What has personal training, allowed you to do? It’s given me a whole new lease on life. Being fit has given me more confidence and energy in my everyday life. I feel stronger, better physically and mentally now, than I did 20 years ago. I’ve started biking, running (ran my first 5K-encouraged by Cassie), and climbed mountains. I never would have done that before. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made!*
What has been your biggest obstacle to success? How did you overcome it? My biggest obstacle was my eating habits. I rarely planned meals, so we ate out or carried out meals quite a bit. I ate what I wanted and never thought about the consequences.
After I had a nutrition consultation with Cassie, I cleaned out my pantry and kept only things I knew I should be eating. I knew I needed to make things as easy as possible if I was going to be successful. I started planning my meals. When I prepare a meal, I make enough so that leftovers give us a meal for another night. When I roast or steam vegetables, I make enough that we can eat them for a few days. I do the same with sweet potatoes, rice or quinoa (my staple carbs). Lunches would be a challenge for me at work, so I bring foods that I like; cottage cheese, blueberries, almonds, carrots and a healthy carb. I wasn’t a breakfast eater and needed an easy breakfast, that would have all the nutritional essentials in it, so I started making green shakes in the mornings, which I now love. I take a Quest protein bar in to work for my afternoon snack with coffee. Eating became more about what was required, instead of desired. And once off all the sugar, and bad carbs, healthier foods became desirable. Eating healthy just became a part of my everyday life.
What do you like best about Good Bodies? I love working with Cassie, the one-on-one training experience can’t be beat. I like the friendly and healthy atmosphere where you can encourage each other (trainers and clients alike) and have some fun while you’re at it.
Favorite Exercise: Weight training and running intervals
Least Favorite Exercise: Wow, can I narrow that down? It’s a toss up between Burpees and the Prowler.
Favorite phrase you use with your trainer: Really?
